What is TS EDCET 2016?

This is an important entrance test organized for candidates who want to pursue an education in B. Ed in the state of Telangana. A Common Entrance Test (CET), designated as Telangana State Education Common Entrance Test-2016 (TSEd.CET-2016) will be conducted by the CONVENER, TSEd.CET-2016, Osmania University, Hyderabad on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education for admission in to B.Ed (Two years) Regular Course in the Colleges of Education in Telangana State for the academic year 2016-2017. 

Age of admission: The candidates should have completed the age of 19 years on 1st July of the year in which notification is issued. There shall be no maximum age limit.

Medium of Entrance Test: The question paper will be in English and Telugu except for English Methodology. However, candidates opting to write the Entrance Test in Urdu medium will be served with Urdu paper and such candidates shall opt Hyderabadas Test Centre.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for TS EDCET 2016?


Only the candidates satisfying the following requirements shall be eligible to appear for TS Ed.CET-2016. 

  • The Candidates should be Indian Nationals.
  • The Candidates should satisfy Local/Non-Local status requirements as laid down in the Telangana Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) Order 1974 as subsequently amended.
  •  Educational Qualifications:
  • Candidates should have passed/appearing for final year examinations of B.A./B.Sc./B.Sc. (Home Science) /B.Com./ B.E/B.Tech/B.C.A./B.B.M. at the time of submitting the Application for T S Ed.CET-2016. Candidates should be required to produce marks memo and pass certificate at the time of admission.
  • Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree i.e. B.A./B.Sc./B.Sc. (Home Science)/B.Com./B.C.A./B.B.M and or in the Masters Degree in relevant subject or 5years integrated course in the relevant subject of methodology or any other qualification equivalent thereto.
  • Candidates should have secured a minimum of 55 % marks in B.E/B.Tech with Science/Mathematics as one of the subject or any other qualification equivalent there to, are eligible for admission to the programme.
  • However, the candidates belonging to all other reserved categories i.e. S.C., S.T., B.C. (A/B/C/D/E), and Physically handicapped should have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.

Note: As per the GOMS No: 92, the candidates who passed M.B.B.S/B.D.S/B.A.M.S./B.L/L.L.B/B.A. (Languages)/B.O.L etc. and other such professional courses are not eligible for admission into B.Ed course.

The application for EDCET will be accepted online only. There are however two options to pay the fees, offline at any of the AP Online centers or online through debit/credit card.

Procedure for TS EDCET 2016 Fee Deposit at TS Online Centers


1.     Visit any of the TS Online centers with the following mandatory details

                                Hall Ticket number of the Qualifying Examination

                                Name of the Candidate

                                Candidate's Father Name

                                Date of Birth of the Candidate

                                Hall Ticket number of S.S.C (10th Class)

                                Mobile number


2.    Pay the requisite fee and obtain a receipt for the same. Ensure that it contains  a Journal ID for applying and future reference.

3.    Logon to using the "Journal ID" given above to complete  filling up your form.

Application Form for TS EDCET 2016


To successfully apply for EDCET, the candidates have to make the payment first and they will be able to fill the form afterwards. Online applications will start from 14th March 2016 and once you have submitted the fee you can start filling the form through the following procedure:

1.       Go to the official website www.tsedcet.orgto view the application form.

2.       Select the relevant fee option according to your choice since and then you can proceed.

3.       Enter all your academic and personal details as asked in the form that now appears.

4.       Upload your scanned photograph and signature carefully where required.

5.       Click on ‘Agree’ button and submit the form.

6.       After the completion and submission of the form, a unique registration ID is  generated. Keep this registration ID for future reference as it will be used at the time of downloading admit card and when you are about to look at your score.

7.       As you will click on ‘Confirm’ button, a confirmation SMS will be sent to your  registered mobile number and an email containing a copy of the filled application form will also be delivered to your email ID.



Exam Pattern for TS EDCET 2016


This CET is structured to evaluate the candidate’s overall knowledge. The test shall be of objective type (multiple choice) examination. Candidate has to answer 150 questions in two hours’ time.


Part – A

Consists of 25 questions for 25 marks

General English

Part – B

Consists of 15 questions for 15 marks

                    10 questions for 10 marks

General Knowledge

Teaching Aptitude

Part - C


100 questions for 100 marks

(Candidate has to choose one of these five subjects)


1.       Mathematics

2.       Physical Sciences (Physics – 50 questions for 50 marks and Chemistry – 50 questions for 50 marks)

3.       Biological Sciences (Botany – 50 questions for 50 marks/Zoology – 50 questions for 50 marks)

4.       Social Studies (Geography – 35 questions for 35 marks/History – 30 questions for 30 marks/Civics – 15 questions for 15 marks/Economics – 20 questions for 20 marks)

 Results for TS EDCET 2016


  •  Candidates will be ranked in each methodology in the order of merit on the basis of marks obtained in TS Ed.CET -2016 examination.
  •  Wherever there is a tie in total marks, Part-C marks will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In case of further tie, the marks obtained in Part-A will be taken into account to decide relative ranking.
  •  In case of candidates getting equal marks in each of the parts of the test paper, they shall be bracketed for the purpose of award of rank. At the time of admission into the course, age shall be taken into consideration for relative ranking among the bracketed candidates and the older candidates shall be given priority.
  • The rank obtained in TS Ed.CET-2016 is valid for entry into B.Ed. course for the academic year 2016-2017 only.
  •  Request for re-totaling or revaluation or personal identification of scripts will not be entertained.


TS EDCET 2016 Counselling Schedule


The counselling shall be conducted at online centers allotted to the candidates by the conducting authorities. The candidates shall be required to go to their respective centers on the day of counselling and follow certain steps to register and secure a seat for their course.

  •   Candidates will be called for registration rank-wise. They will be required to sign in the register and pay the processing fee and proceed for verification of certificates.
  •   The candidates shall produce Original certificates as notified at the time of certificate verification and bring Xerox copies of certificates for submission
  •    Hall ticket Number of Qualifying Examination
  •    Date of Birth. d. Caste in case of SC/ST/BC candidates.
  •    PH/NCC/SPORTS etc
  •    Parental Income Upto One Lakh or up to Two lakhs or more than Two Lakhs (rupees) it is received by the Convener. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
  •    Study or Residence or relevant certificate for proof of local status
  •    Aadhar Card


  • The verification officer will verify the ingenuity of the certificates produced and collect the Xerox copies of certificates. After verification, the candidate shall collect the Receipt of Certificates from the counter.
  • Candidates need to verify the mobile number, caste category, local area, gender, minority, parental income, special category, date of birth, eligible degree, specialization and details of TSEDCET examination printed on receipt of certificates. Any discrepancy should be brought to the notice of Camp Officer / Co-ordinator immediately for corrections. Seat allotment process depends on the accuracy of the above data. You are also jointly responsible for ensuring the correctness of the data.
